These are all the tips for getting the collectibles I've gathered from experience and the many tidbits scattered through multiple threads in this forum. I've listed the rarer collectibles below and noted where you can get them. If not listed - they'll be in Nobeards Cave, which you'll need to purchase in app.
If you have better and more specific answers than I have below, please post! Especially... where are the tires!?
Aaron said elsewhere... for collectibles in v1.6, use the 'wrong' bait and cast to around 70 - 75% distance. I've noticed that in some places, you'll get no collectibles with say Spinner, but they start coming in with Baitfish. At Waves of Doom for instance, max cast is 210, so 70% would be 7 x 21 = 147 feet.
If you're not getting many collectibles, fish at Nobeards cave. Cast to 40 - 48 feet and catch rate should be about 1 in 4 on average, in my experience. Elsewhere, collectible catch rate is, at best, 1 in 20, an unscientific guess.
If you don't get that catch rate, exit back to the main screen, tap "Help & Options", then tap "Game Options" and there reset the Tutorial. Go Fishing and you should see the map and where you can re-do the Tutorial - make sure you finish it completely. Catch rate should improve if it was bad before, most evident in Nobeards cave.
Many items are available in multiple locations, driftwood, flintlocks, boots, chests, anchors, lifebelts and others can come up anywhere. Some few are available in just one spot or perhaps only a few - lightbulb & titanic are like this.
Nobeards Cave... has many things including all the Shiny Shiny & One Man Band collections. Spend most of your time there, reeling quickly in to deliberately snap the line if a fish strikes. If you have a collectible on the line, it has no weight and you can quickly reel it straight in. 70% of max cast is 42 feet. I've had luck anywhere in the 40 - 52 ft range. Use bait fish to get big Cobia on the line so you can snap the line quickly if it's not a collectible. Use Lure if you want to build up your Roosterfish catch. I thought I noticed that some items appear most often when you cast to 40-48, but others come up more often when you cast from 48-52. Party Hat I'm thinking there. I could have imagined this, but when I was looking for it, up she came.
If you can, unlock the Red Rod, which is supposed to improve collectible catch rate. Same for the Treasure Finder gizmo, though you'll need to catch a lot of collectibles before you can unlock that.

Excellent synopsis. The No Beard line-snap strategy will pay dividends - combine it with the line reel in trick when casting and you'll be picking up 4/5 collectibles a minute.

Sarge - in The River on Spinner cast to 76 feet. May be avbl with other baits, don't know.
Painting 2 at Lake Shiny, 66 feet (on Luncheon Meat).
Party Hat at Night Fishing (on Luncheon Meat), as well as 52 ft at Nobeards Cave.

Another Graeme posted in the monster fish thread that... "Catching tire is a nightmare , ive been trying the old pond - 29' - Bait fish , caught 2 tire in say 6000 casts , nightmare".
Gotta say I agree tyres are a nightmare. I don't fish the Old Pond. Except for Old Mog & Tiddles, I don't wind anything else in, I let them escape. Just not into catching thousands of catfish & roach where all you do is reel them in. On balance, i can do without the tyres and whatever gizmos I can unlock with them.
Painting 3 at The River. On this occasion, bait fish at 75 feet while fishing for Gums.
I have cough tires at old pound at 28-27-18-14ft. It did take some time but the tires are there. I hope this helps you all have help me.
Titanic is that the wave of dome. I got 10 of them at - 105 to 96 on squid
Thanks for the link, i've had all the collectibles at least once. Still struggleing to finish off the last few collections, just working my way through slowly. Need a light bulb, titanic, painting 3 and one more tire then that's it! They will all be done with the lightning stripe, or whatever that is! :)

Light Bulb is at the Brkwater. Cast to about 80-100 ft or you'll just get Dead Coral and Seaweed. If dead coral was accepted to for all Gizmos then I would have all of them by now...
One flaw with trying to catch a Sarge with BF at Riverside 76'. You'll get mostly Pike. Anyone can find tires?
I have found almost all my tires at the old pond 24-26ft. About 15 total

Finally finished the lot! Must say tires and the light bulb took the longest to catch!
For me it the Titanic was the most irritating to collect.
ive gotten all the collectibles for the red rod; but it wont let me click on it to turn the collectibles in or let me use the rod for that matter
Here's my list from my ipad note. It's incomplete. Fill in whatever necessary. I put seaweed and coral so you stay away from those distances. Hope it helps.

One of the hardest to get is the tire. I got my first and only one so long ago I can't even remember where I caught it. Helpful Hint: Casting less than 20 feet from minimum cast and casting more than 25 feet from minimum cast will earn u seaweed and deadcoral in saltwater. Sounds unbelieveable, I have caught Dead Coral & Seaweed in Lake Shiny. Weird.
Sarge is at the river. Max cast is the best way.

Also ich habe heute die Erfahrung gemacht, dass man alles, in allen Gewässern mit baitfish,hot red reel und, ganz wichtig, Superline (NICHT treasure finder, damit funktioniert bei mir gar nichts) bekommt.
Die Entfernung scheint immer, so wie oben schon beschrieben, um die ca 70% der maximalen Wurfweite zu sein.
Dabei ging ich so vor: etwa soweit auswerfen wie nötig und dann die Leine etwas anziehen bis auf die gewünschte Weite und dann ganz kurz vor dem auftreffen des Baits auf dem Wasser aufhören einzuholen.
Meine Trefferquote war heute dermassen enorm, dass ich fast alle + Gizmos im laufe des Nachmittags freigespielt habe
Darunter mehrfach den "old guy" in der Private Beach bei ca 150ft oder die Titanic in den "Waves of Doom" und die "lightbulb"(3x) im "Breakwater".
Ich bin der Meinung, dass kann kein Zufall sein.

No Graeme , if only it would open you would see a function to disable the old geezer's marketplace offering you any old thing you already have at a silly old price. Have so far found everything many times but not one single tire. Have noticed that the counter stops at 127 for every collectible item , if e.g. you have 127 old boots ( know any one-legged persons ? ) the ones after that are not counted. As if I needed them.
But yes : a Wiggler lure would be great , have only got a dozen of the little elusive blighters and have just about giving up catching more. Good luck catching him !!
While catching fish of the day (Roach) The Old Pond yesterday I caught 3 tires 24-28ft. Maggots used.
The Treasure Finder as far as I am concerned is quite useless.
As with most of the powerup style gizmos, the treasure finder is only meant to increase the chances fractionally. However it's been complained about quite a bit, so once the big SlotZ Racer update is out of the way, it'll be on my list of things to tweak in the Flick Fishing updates ;)
Thanks, Aaron. Help would be apppreciated. I have the Tresure finder +, red rod. and followed all the hints above, but still don't have either Titanic, 5 tires, or two cannons. I fishedmaggots at the Old Pond at 20-26 ft. while watching a BBall game tonight, caught 3 treasure chests, a party hat, two boots, even a keg...but no tires.
Found the painting at the river,and the peg leg in waves of doom.The old guy should be at Private beach by the way,I have also given up the hope of snagging a tire.

I think I lost it a long time ago...lol. Over a dozen treasure chests, more boots than that, 4 tin whistles 5 part hats, kegs, and drums,, I even caught Tiddles four times and I wasn't even trying to....and one lousey tire.
All the tournaments and races require a bit of knowledge and skill to win. I am getting tired of these games where I am at the whim of probabilities and have no control at all. I may have to try my luck with named fish. At least that will test my skill a bit, too.

as it says in the first post above, cast 70% of max distance (regardless of location) for best chance of hooking a collectible.
For locations, go back and re-read posts # 1, 7 & 8.
you're trying to catch a tire... you just need a hook. Bait should be unimportant. Cast 70% of max cast. That would be 24ft for highest probability, reducing slightly as you move further away. I've caught 5 in total, all between 24 - 27 feet.
What Graeme meant Brian is that any of the baits can be used. They all have a hook on them (you can't pick 'just a hook'). The chance of hooking a collectible isn't affected by what bait you have selected.

so i have found 3 out of the five party hats. but i havnt seen another one since then. ive fished for hours at the old pond and hours at nobeards cave but nothing. where can i find more party hats???? please help!! also does anyone know what the old man gives you when u beat him for the tenth time?

Yup. The treasure finder's passive though, it adds a small percentage (about 5%) to the chance that you'll hook a collectible/treasure item instead of a fish.
