These are all the tips for getting the collectibles I've gathered from experience and the many tidbits scattered through multiple threads in this forum. I've listed the rarer collectibles below and noted where you can get them. If not listed - they'll be in Nobeards Cave, which you'll need to purchase in app.
If you have better and more specific answers than I have below, please post! Especially... where are the tires!?
Aaron said elsewhere... for collectibles in v1.6, use the 'wrong' bait and cast to around 70 - 75% distance. I've noticed that in some places, you'll get no collectibles with say Spinner, but they start coming in with Baitfish. At Waves of Doom for instance, max cast is 210, so 70% would be 7 x 21 = 147 feet.
If you're not getting many collectibles, fish at Nobeards cave. Cast to 40 - 48 feet and catch rate should be about 1 in 4 on average, in my experience. Elsewhere, collectible catch rate is, at best, 1 in 20, an unscientific guess.
If you don't get that catch rate, exit back to the main screen, tap "Help & Options", then tap "Game Options" and there reset the Tutorial. Go Fishing and you should see the map and where you can re-do the Tutorial - make sure you finish it completely. Catch rate should improve if it was bad before, most evident in Nobeards cave.
Many items are available in multiple locations, driftwood, flintlocks, boots, chests, anchors, lifebelts and others can come up anywhere. Some few are available in just one spot or perhaps only a few - lightbulb & titanic are like this.
Nobeards Cave... has many things including all the Shiny Shiny & One Man Band collections. Spend most of your time there, reeling quickly in to deliberately snap the line if a fish strikes. If you have a collectible on the line, it has no weight and you can quickly reel it straight in. 70% of max cast is 42 feet. I've had luck anywhere in the 40 - 52 ft range. Use bait fish to get big Cobia on the line so you can snap the line quickly if it's not a collectible. Use Lure if you want to build up your Roosterfish catch. I thought I noticed that some items appear most often when you cast to 40-48, but others come up more often when you cast from 48-52. Party Hat I'm thinking there. I could have imagined this, but when I was looking for it, up she came.
If you can, unlock the Red Rod, which is supposed to improve collectible catch rate. Same for the Treasure Finder gizmo, though you'll need to catch a lot of collectibles before you can unlock that.
Where to find stuff... gleaned from what I remember and what others have posted:
Cannon & Cannonball - in salt water, Waves of Doom, Blue Deeps, Nobeards etc
Lightbulb - Breakwater
MINE! - Waves of Doom & others
Old Guy - Private Beach
Painting (number unknown) River, Waves of Doom
Painting 1 Blue Deeps
Painting 2
Painting 3
Peg leg - Waves of Doom
Sarge - said to be at The River
Tires - absolutely no idea. Suspect a bug is stopping them appearing.
Titanic - Waves of Doom
If your item of interest is not here - it will be in Nobeards Cave. Fish there a lot!

Try interchanging rods, gizmos, baits, extreme mode, etc. It may be my imagination, but I seem to be getting more collectibles using the blue rod.

Yea I tried for like 3days on every break at work an like 2hours at night but at the waves I can't seem to get ANY collectibles I can't figure it out, guess I need the right distance. When I go to the beach I think out of many hours I've only gotten maybe 2 collectibles and they weren't anything I really need. Thanks for answering though that's pretty cool somebody responded!

I have a routine that works for me when I'm trying to get collectibles. If you don't have these items yet, try to get them first before any others. I use the solid Blue rod with the Superline gizmo. If you're using Flick Fishing Paid, fish in extreme mode (that's not in Flick Fishing Free). At the Old Pond use Maggots, Private Beach and Waves of Doom use Baitfish. Try and cast just over the midline on the cast meter. At the Old Pond that's 23 to 25 ft. At the Private Beach and Waves of Doom that's 165 to 175 ft (I like 172 ft.). As soon as your bobber/float settles, reel in 3 or 4 clicks then stop. This seems to make the bite happen sooner than just waiting for it. When the bite happens, reel in like mad. If it's a fish, your line will probably break. That doesn't matter - you're fishing for collectibles only now. Cast again using the same technique. Collectibles hardly weigh anything, so your line will never break if you hook one. At the Old Pond, none of the fish seem to break the line no matter how hard you reel in or how big they are (even Old Mog), so you're liable to be catching a ton of Roach too. Just keep doing this technique over and over and over. Don't give the game time to catch a breath! I've used this routine and have managed to catch all collectibles, including many of the elusive Tires, Peg Legs, Sarges and Old Guys. I hope this technique works for you too. I'm running the latest Flick Fishing Paid on a iPod Touch 4G with the latest iOS. Have Fun! :D

I thought buying collectibles and/or gizmos with doubloons would be a nice feature too. I have over 1000 doubloons and that's from just catching fish - I didn't buy any. Now that I have all the collectibles and gizmos, I'm trying to move up on the Plus+ leaderboards with big fish. Or I fish with a new gizmo for a while to see how it behaves. Or I go for the fish of the day and get more doubloons. Or I go on a personal quest to catch all named fish in one session. I got nine of them one night! Or if I don't mind losing a few doubloons, I'll continue with the Old Guy's Challenge. Or I try and win a tournament that I haven't won yet. There's lots to do once you get all the collectibles and gizmos! :D

Dude tried for peg leg and old man FOREVER. Can't sem to find it, it's nuts that I'm 25 and play on my iPod every chance I get lol though your tips are helping with actually finding things now!! So thank u sooo much
July 07, 2012 23:59

Denise, are you catching more collectibles at least? As you keep doing that routine, you'll eventually start catching the ones you need. Patience and persistence are key. I didn't get all my collectibles overnight. It took me 2 - 3 weeks to finally get everything.

Lynwood, that's good to know about Old Mog (and I guess all the named fish). Thanks. I've got a ways to go before she starts giving me a fight. She's only a little over 100 lbs. for me. At over 600 lbs. for you, I'll bet you use Auto-Slip when fishing for her.

Plus+ is OK for me. Sometimes if you go immediately into Plus+ after starting Flick Fishing, it will not load or take a real long time. Hit the Go Fish! button and then come back to the main screen. If you look real carefully at the Plus+ button in the upper right, it will go gray for a split second. And then back to light blue. I think this means that your iPod (or whatever device) is communicating with the Plus+ server. You should be able to get into Plus+ with no delay now. Of course you have to be connected to your local wi-fi too. :)
Great news on Peg Leg! And with the Light Bulbs! Some people have been having problems catching them too.

If I go to advanced in the paid version and reset quest does that mean I will lose all of my stats??? As in pretty much start from scratch.
July 09, 2012 21:10
Andrew Jones
You'll be starting the Quest from scratch, but not the game. Your fish count, weights, tournaments, gizmos and collectibles will remain. The only way you'll lose them is if you remove the game from your device. Even then, there is a way to restore some of that from Plus+ (I think that still works).

@Fisherchamp - re-read the first post in this thread & Andrew Jones first post from July 7 above for all the info you need, plus more. You'll find that No Beards Cave is where you need to be.
The necklace and rings I have only caught at the cave... Once you get them you will gets lots of them!! I used ragworm any where from 36ft to 50ft. Andrew I also caught my first tire!!!! Now I just need lots more the old guy titanic and them stupid paintings!!!!! Lol I'm getting there, also wanted to thank you for the info on resetting quest , everything was ok only lost wiggler lure but obviously got it back once I beat the quest again. I noticed since I did the advanced and switched to the blue stripe rod I have found A LOT. More collectibles and some of which are no where near the 70% range?!?! Weird.
July 14, 2012 00:54

Hmmm. I forgot about the Line Oil and Golden Lure that you get during the quest. It's interesting that it took them away from you. Of course, as you said, you get them back once you complete the Quest again. I remember my first Titanic, the Old Guy offered it to me for sale at 20 doubloons, I think. I caught a few on my own since. :)

Denise, I did an experiment with what you said at the Private Beach. Blue/White Striped Rod, Super Line Gizmo and Ragworm. I caught more treasures than fish! Including 2 Necklaces! And that was casting over 200 ft each time. I switched to the Treasure Finder Gizmo and caught nothing but fish. I wonder if Aaron has those two Gizmos switched somehow in the program?
