In the new Flick Fishing 1.6 update, we added a new tutorial mode. One feature of this is that it hides some game elements such as tutorial until you've completed the tutorial.

It also appears that if you've played Flick Fishing before and have previously done the tutorial, you may have a glitch where you can't land any collectible items as the tutorial is waiting for you to catch a fish ;) 

In both cases, it's best to go to the Old Pond and quickly play through the tutorial (even if you've been playing Flick Fishing for the last 3 years, at least it tells you about the Collections and throwing Gold Doubloons in to tempt bigger fish ;) ).
