The new update for Flick Fishing (paid) was submitted to Apple yesterday, just in time for its 3rd birthday. Lots of new content to catch it up to the freemium version split across two IAP content packs (one for each new location) and the collection game which is in the main content.
As always, you don't use doubloons to access locations like in the freemium version. I've added doubloons in as a prize system and for the Challenge Mode game but you collect them entirely by fishing them up or catching record fish.
No idea on when it will actually be approved, but watch this space :)

New Collectable Item System! One man's junk is another man's key item to unlock a cool Gizmo.
Previously hidden fishing Rods are now unlocked via Collections feature.
As always, all unlocked fishing locations are free to access anytime (doubloons are in the game as part of Challenge Mode and to tempt larger fish and not a consumable IAP).
only 2 new named fish appear in my Photo Album. Smiling Inigo seems to have the wrong picture (attached).
New bug or feature - selected gizmo doesn't stick. I select "Tasty Bait", catch some fish, return to map, fish again, no Tasty Bait selected.
Annoyingly, Audio has a bug... wind the sound all the way down and sometimes the sounds come back, even though the slider appears all the way to the left. Dragging it to the right & back to the left silences is again.
Also - did you fix the Fish Race bug? The one with the signed integer doing the counting. Where you only get to win 127 races before being whizzed back to -127 wins. Have only just won my way back to zero and now up to 12 or so (pic attached showing me getting back to zero wins... made me laugh anyway). Would like to keep going beyond the 127 mark.
I seem to have lost my blue striped pole with the new version. Is it still available; I tried to get it back with the ducks but couldn't.
The tuned ducks have gone back to being purely a hidden musical instrument and the different fishing rods are now unlocked via the collections (rather than the last duck you tapped).
I managed to keep my blue and white striped pole even though I haven't unlocked it with the collection (see attached photo). I am enjoying the update, Aaron and am racking up some record breakers using tasty bait, a chocolate doubloon and the birthday cake! Thanks! I wonder if I'm getting the little larger fish with the blue and white striped pole too?
Must be nice. I have zero bigger fish. I've been throwing doubloons and using tasty bait too. Also are we supposed to be catching stuff for the collections? I haven't seen any of those either.

haven't caught any record breakers in cake month yet, but it seems much easier to catch large fish now - just caught a 770 lb Barracuda as easily as a 450 lb. And I see Aaron has taken the opportunity to make Bazzacuda the largest Barracuda at last.
The last 2 Smiling Inigo's I've caught were pretty easily done, but... has Adam been drinking? Take a look at that grin! When I saw that, I starting wondering if Carpo Marx has actually has a moustache now like he's said to... but no, he still looks the same. So what's going on with Inigo - weird photo album pic & downright weird pic when you catch him now.

excuse the grumbling, but I've tried all the different gizmos already. And if I want to change, I'll do so. If I set a setting just so, I expect it to stay that way. Re-setting something in that way only serves to irritate the user. What's next... re-set the rods & reels with each location change as well? Obviously absurd - please don't do that, let the gizmo setting stick to how the user selects it.
And while I'm grumbling... the location of the Doubloon chest when you get a doubloon reward for a record breaker, it's... badly located. Right over the new weight! Please can it be moved further down the screen, so that it does not obscure the new weight.
Not that this is a democracy, but I'd vote for losing the "My Doubloons" at the bottom of the offending graphic and making the number a little larger.

There are 3 tabs at the bottom of the tackle box that show the rods and reels. The red rod is in the first of those.
The Old Guy In the Lighthouse bobblehead doll can be found at the Private Beach and I believe Sarge's one tends to be in the river, but both are very rare. The collectible items are random, but some are more likely in specific fishing spots than others (and some can only be found at 1 or 2 spots).
i probably did'nt noticed the changes when i installed the new 2 fishing spots...tnx a lot mate...try to get em all then..godspeed
Note for anyone finding it impossible to find any collection items. Play through the new tutorial (reset it from the game options if necessary) as this clears a glitch that would block collectible items from being hooked. I've posted something in announcements too..
Richmond Ong is right.. there is no tournament option !!! I re-dowloaded just to be sure and more than a years worth of fishing and tournaments and big fish are all gone !!!! What a total waste.. not to mention I took your advice that said tournaments will appear once you go thru the tutorial and NO.. NO.. NO because after catching 3 different fish and one treasure chest the old man man wants me to win a tournament.. but big surprise "ITS NOT THERE" CANNOT ACCESS TOURNAMENTS NO MATTER WHAT I DO !!! what a complete joke.. this just went from my all time #1 favorite app to the one I cannot wait to delete because all I have done is lost #1 and #2 I cannot even do what I need to, to move ahead in the tutorial...??? so pissed right now !!!
yeah....FYI all.. this game is totally effed up from before. Each time you try the tutorial "following what the old man wants" he will have you catch bream, then cats, then a treasure chest, then two carp... then the game ends !!! Because he wants you to win a tournament.. THAT YOU CANNOT F%&^KING GET TOO !!!!! please whomever effed up the best game on iphone... please fix it !!! this is unbelieveable !!! I am typing to you for me and approx 10 or 12 of my friends who all have this game... what the F happened ?????
Graeme comments are a bit helpful for sure... as I said I have been playing this game for more than 1 1/2yrs.. maybe longer and after selecting go fish I would always get the next screen that gave options of go fishing or tournament. Now if I select go "Go Fish!" from main screen it goes directly to the map...?? And as for tutorial I am completely lost.. I have no option to start, begin, take any sort of tutorial.. so I assumed you meant doing what the old man asks..?? I have no idea.. I just know my game worked fine until the last update and now not only have I lose all my big fish, good rod, better reel, etc... I cannot fish a tournament.. nor is there any tutorial to take so that I can..? :( and as mentioned above I am not the only one.. I told my friends I found this support site so they are all waiting on me to find the fix.. PLEEEEEEASE !!!
Richard, I'm worried for your game progress. I've suffered this myself several times. There used to be a way to hack the com.freeverse.marillion folder out of a previous iTunes backup & into a restore, but doubt this works anymore with newer iTunes versions. If indeed all your game progress has been zapped, likely you'll need to login to Plus+, go to the (empty?) Photo Album and tap 5 of the rivets there in the correct order to download your best fish weights (but not catch numbers) from Plus+. Aaron could advise you better here I'm sure. Really though... is your Photo Album completely empty?
As for getting to the Tutorial... tap "Help & Options", then "Game Options" and then "Reset Tutorial". Go back to the first screen, "Go Fish". Do you then have the 3 options (Go Fishing, Tournament, Fish Net) as I do. I would then tap Go Fishing to get to the map. You should then see (I think) "Tap Here", pointing to the Old Pond. That will be the Tutorial... work through that. Fingers crossed, all might be well.
If not, I suspect you might need to remove FF from your device and download it anew.
WOW.. not sure if I feel stupid.. or its a STUPID OPTION IN THE GAME.. I had already downloaded new versions earlier in the day. Deleted from both the phone and my computer then re downloaded and installed on the phone. Here's the rub.. I did the tutorial each time at the pond.. but did not use the doubloon when instructed as I already know the game.. Seems if you do not do that you do not complete the tutorial..?? Makes no sense but that was what caused everything to not work... Finally third download and yes tank totally empty.. finally working.. Thanks for the help graeme...
It shouldn't be *that* hard to collect the items. It's not meant to be instant, but that much time should get you a decent way in. I'm sorting the various reports I've had of people not being able to get collections at all (the tutorial issue) from the others where they're reporting that they're having problems catching them at any sort of speed.
By the looks of things, they've become unexpectedly hard to catch in release mode, so I'll be doing some tweaking to them.
In the meantime, you can increase your chances of hooking a collectible by casting to about 70% max distance and using the red rod if you've already unlocked it.
Prior to re-setting the tutorial, I was thinking the collections would take about a year. The catch improved *considerably* after repeating the tutorial. Even got 5 in a row at Nobeards Cave between 45 & 48 feet yesterday. Players should remember that v1.6 with the Collections has been out for... less than 2 weeks.
As for the red rod, which I've now unlocked, I'm happier with the Green & White striped rod which I'll never get back if I change. I'd be persuaded if I know what the new red, blue & green rods added to normal fishing I guess.
in normal mode they didn't do anything (and other than the red rod increasing the chances of hooking a collectible by a couple of %, they still don't). prior to 1.6, the red, green and blue rods increased the difficulty slightly in eXtreme mode but that's been switched off now.
where can I get a tire, titanic, banjo, and light bulb?
after almost 20 hours of playtime... I still don't have those collectibles

so i did the re-setting the tutorial...improvements came in right away...
old guy- beach, 105 ft.,squid...after testing from 75% max cast...i tried casting shorter everytime...so that would be like after 100-150 casts, the doll came out...
lightbulb-breakwater definitely..
banjo-everywhere...i have like 8 0r 9 already...
party hat-cave..you need patience here..i have three right now..just throw short and reel in a little like 41-49ft..almost everything is in this cave...
titanic-waves of doom...again cast short and reel in a bit...
that's it for me..i still need to find peg leg,sarge and keg..if somebody would like to share info...
everytime you unlocked something use it right away...and baits are really important..try testing wrong baits...

I'm just wondering if Freeverse has a fair policy for inApp Purchase apps ... last year I bought this apps along with $2.99 upgrade for Private Beach Pack and etc .... now that content became a free items, there are 2 new contents ... can I bought this 2 contents for free? There is apps like Battle Bears -1....while I bought the inApp Purchase ... when they give free item to new app buyers, they give a new material for previous inApp purchase buyer ... I think this is more fair to the old users....
Sorry Sofian, there's no policy like that. For the low amounts that iPhone apps are being sold for the advantage of being able to play a new component of the game for a year before everyone else is already reasonable enough, plus if we do make a previously IAP component free (or the whole game, as we're doing with the big SlotZ Racer update coming very soon), we usually update content in it for previous exclusive owners or include something specific.
Looking to do the next iPad update when I do some tweaks to the current iPhone version. It's a bit of an undertaking but I've got a plan that should simplify future updates so the HD version *should* be able to be released fairly close to the iPhone version in future.
I just purchased Shipwreck Shores, but I can't purchase Nobeard's Cave because it is not in the Village Shop. Will it appear randomly?
Hi Aaron. At first, it's really amazing game. I play paid version almost 2 years. Collectible item is good idea but -i read whole topics about items&support- i couldn't find any tires. Where can I find it? Thanks.
Thanks Aaron, I'm dumb, I didn't know you could scroll the screen. And Ahmet, sometimes when you are in tournaments, the Old Guy from the Lighthouse lets you buys colectables from him. Thats how I got my tires...
this might sound like a noob question but i looked everywhere and couldnt find help but how do you catch the secret fish after this new update
i am relivantly new to this game i have done all the quests and have cought all of the main fish but cant find the hidden ones. i have seen videos that say to tap the lighthouse but that doesnt work for me.
just wanted to know if you guys knew anything on how to do it
