Why doesn't Periscope work if no display is attached?

I am running Periscope on an old PowerMac G5 with external Firewire iSight camera  running 10.5.8 . I  have no display connected to this box. When I connect to it from my MacBook using screen sharing, Periscope shows no video. The external iSight camera is selected in preferences. Clicking "Capture Photo Now" does nothing.

Everything worked when a display (now dead) was connected.

Unfortunately, its one of the limitations of the software and since it's been recently discontinued, there will not be an update for this.

We haven't tried this yet to resolve that matter but thought we'd share the link explaining how to trick the mac into thinking there is a monitor:
