Now I understand the collections are random, but online there is absoulutly no help on where to find any of the items, I am trying to get Tasty Bait Gizmo, where do I catch a "Old Guy" and a "Sarge", what does that even mean? Just where are good spots to find this stuff? Like where would I catch those? Or where can I catch a propeller? I understand its suppose to be random, but not even like a hot spot for the items? If anyone could give me any kind of help on any of this it would be appreciated, thank you.

Collectibles don't have any weight or fight, so you can reel in at full speed without snapping the line (this is the basis of an old trick for collecting the junk items for the quest as you reel at full speed after casting and let the line snap if it's a fish so you can quickly re-cast to try again).
yep, that sure works (after re-setting and completing the tutorial), got heaps of collectibles that way yesterday.
peg leg.. cannonball.. paintings?? I have everything else and wayyyy too much of some things and others never come up?? Where are the paintings is my main question ??
we should probably make an effort and put all the various questions and answers about collections in a single place. Most collectible items appear in multiple places I've found, but some are exclusive to just a single place.
to answer your question to the limit of my knowledge... have 2 peg legs, one from Waves of Doom and the other was sold to be by the OGITL when at the Breakwater. Got a cannonball today at Blue Deeps, but have had others elsewhere (probably Nobeards Cave). Have had paintings appear at River and Waves of Doom (twice).
Have scored zero "tires". Probably the only place I've not fished a lot for collectibles is Night Fishing at Lake Shiny.
ok - I did that, made an effort and put everything I know about collectibles, gathered from experience and what others have posted, into a new thread "Collectibles - answers here". Hopefully that will help people and can be a good resource without people needing to bounce around in & out of threads looked for info. Additional info welcome there.
